September 13 a plumber in 1985 began his adventure to save a princess and did sell 40 million games. Super Mario Bros. celebrates 25 years. The game was put on sale September 13, 1985, and for twenty years was the world's best selling video game, before being surpassed by Wii Sports, another game produced by Nintendo's Japanese home video game.
Mario, the hero of the game, appeared for the first time in 1981 in the title Donkey Kong on an idea by Shigeru Miyamoto. Initially, Mario was called Jumpaman and was a carpenter and a plumber of Italian descent. In 1983 he won a game all by itself, Mario Bros., who appeared in his brother Luigi. The success of the title led Nintendo to design a follow-richer and set in a fantasy world chock full of turtles, deadly mushrooms and carnivorous plants. So in 1985 he became Super Mario and the years went on to sell over 40 million copies of the game.
